Are you up for a road trip? This one won’t break the bank and will have you home in time to sleep in your own bed, all in one evening! It's Maple Grove High School's "CenterStage [Act 6]" on stage this weekend. "It’s a lot of work, but it's really fun," said Emily Bjorke, a senior at Maple Grove High School. "It's going to start from LA, and it's going to move all the way up to New York throughout the first and second acts." Director Beth Hellstedt and band director Peter Buller began collaborating and planning the production about a year ago. "We didn't have auditions until the end of February, but that's when things really kicked off, and we've been rehearsing ever since," said Hellstedt. Hellsted has shared the choreography duties with Nikki Swoboda for the past four years. "Something has happened at Maple Grove Senior with the theater program where the coolest thing it is to be in Maple Grove Senior High School with our theater program, is to work hard. That's the coolest thing. And I’m not sure how we built the culture, but we have," said Swoboda. "My favorite thing is just the atmosphere," said Kyle Krona, a Maple Grove senior. "When it all comes together, the supporting cast members, the band, everything comes together and the people are just really great." "CenterStage [Act 6]" plays Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14, at 7 p.m. at Maple Grove Senior High. Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for seniors, students and children.
